What is Tai Chi


INTRODUCTION

Tai Chi is a gentle form of exercise
that has been practised in China
for hundreds of years. 

It aims to promote relaxation, 
a feeling of wellbeing and is 
beneficial to health - which all 
helps to relieve the stresses 
of modern living. 

Tai Chi can help to develop a
combination of improved balance,
greater agility, strength and grace. 

It has the ability to harmonise mind
and body. 

It is suitable for people of all ages




THE MEANING OF TAI & CHI 

The words Tai & Chi come from the Chinese philosophy of Taoism. 

Tai means ‘great’ and ‘Chi’ translates in to ‘life force energy’.

The Tai Chi T'u symbol is divided into
light & dark, called Yang & Yin.

The graceful division between
Yang & Yin suggests movement
between light and dark.  This reflects
the movement of Chi energy that
flows through the Tai Chi Form.
